I was a Batman-like superhero in a city perpetually shrouded in shadow (not pictured). It was a massive maze of buildings that extended seemingly infinitely in all directions, including up and down. I glided downwards through a section of the city (that seemed like a pit make of buildings going infinitely downwards but occasionally curving around in different directions) and reflected on how safe and sound the city was in spite of the darkness.
This one is a long one, and difficult to put together chronologically. Basically I was both watching and living inside a Tintin movie. Oddly Tintin wasn’t much of a character. I was in a group of four – there was a young boy, me (a teenager), and two adults. We were on a mission and were also on the run. We had been enslaved or imprisoned by some sort of government or organization.
I remember escaping enslavement and impersonating staff within the organization. I did a variety of jobs, including waitstaff and mining. As a miner I was thought of as ‘the new guy’ and so was shown how to do different things, making the facade easier. Continue reading
I was reading a French rip-off of Calvin and Hobbes. Though derivative it was well written, and challenged the way the reader thought about possessions and other material things. Later I was at the movie theatre, waiting for the movie to load onscreen. A progress bar was projected on the screen indicating how far along the movie was in pre-caching, decompressing, downloading, spooling, whatever. Continue reading
This dream was inspired by The Venture Bros. It’s just a mishmash of ideas from it.
So I was a henchman for the Monarch or a villain like him. Our base of operations was a massive nuclear jet. Brock was one of the lieutenants of the villain. But he’s different. Angrier, more subdued, quieter. Also there’s a gorilla man or woman as one of the other lieutenants. This gorilla has a child. Continue reading
It was the 80s. Turns out Ninja Turtles were real, and I and some others went urban exploring to discover the part of the sewer that they grew up in. Turns out it wasn’t even that sewery, it was a series of tile and concrete halls and rooms that were separated by stairways of maybe four or five steps. Sections were flooded, but rarely more than a few feet. Parts of it were dimly lit with sunlight. It was sealed off from other underground sections by thick upward-sliding electronic doors with a glass window in the centre. The turtles were nowhere to be seen; all we found were giant bloatflies that were pretty annoying.
Had a dream I was a vampire hunter, and I was part of a trio of people who was in the vampire hunting racket. We were tracking down some and figured this one Dracula-type spooky guy was headed into this random house in a city. In fact it resembled the house near High Park I used to live in. Anticipating all kinds of dark spooky stuff, wall to wall coffins stuffed with all kinds of sleeping monstrosities, plus spiderwebs, we spent a few moments outside to steel ourselves for the task at hand. While out there we met some superheroes who were in the middle of fighting some communists (it was the early 80s). I briefly thought of asking them to join us because one of them was either a robot or in some sort of metal armor, and the other had stretch powers, so I figured those would be useful abilities to use against vampires. I didn’t however because I figured we were just part of different scenes and would not mesh. Plus they would probably only be interested if it was communist vampires we were facing, and I had no idea what the political inclination of these bloodsuckers was. Continue reading
