I was a Batman-like superhero in a city perpetually shrouded in shadow (not pictured). It was a massive maze of buildings that extended seemingly infinitely in all directions, including up and down. I glided downwards through a section of the city (that seemed like a pit make of buildings going infinitely downwards but occasionally curving around in different directions) and reflected on how safe and sound the city was in spite of the darkness.
Had fairly fevered dreams last night. Fell asleep at a friend’s (DM) house while she was watching Beyond Re-Animator. I was never fully sure when I was awake or asleep. I would say things to her and then realize that I’d only said them inside my head. Whenever I closed my eyes I would immediately have visions of creatures and situations.
A pretty varied dream. A vary varied dream. Varily, a veriety. I was walking along with friends and suddenly was flying above it all, flying above the telephone lines. As I soared through the air I looked down to see endless fields in all direction, divided by an intermittent and inconsistent network of fences, lit by the setting sun. Often my unconscious has difficulty with scale in these sorts of situations, but the men I saw below appeared quite tiny, but scurried around at great speed. They were in grey uniforms with little caps that suggested to me somehow that they were Chinese, a sort of Chinese agricultural military. They were going to their living area at the end of the day of farming but appeared to move randomly, following each other in circles, getting confused, and the whole thing was a confused cluster with straight and curved lines of people moving off of it.
I was in a massive wooden apartment. It was an open concept affair, with multiple levels of floor a few steps higher or lower than the next. There was a hot tub. It was the home of two sisters. They were based mostly on SW (a female friend who I rarely see) and her sister (a person I have never met). I suspect that the form they took in the dream was also a composite of the sister duo of AG (ex girlfriend from college) and her sister GG. The duo in the dream was not particularly similar to either of the IRL inspirations, aside from the fact that they are all pairs of sisters who do not get along and may even hate each other.
(Trust me, it gets more interesting…)
I was a boy wizard going to a wizard school. The dream was certainly Harry Potter inspired, but the school and its staff more resembled schools from my life and from other fiction than from the HP universe.
I was accused of a particular crime by a faculty member that I never knew what it was. It was a crime so severe, and the accusing authority was so trusted, that my fate to be punished for it was absolute. Nobody believed in my innocence, including my (not IRL) parents, who were part of the process for conditioning me for my punishment. I got this sense that my crime was not one of doing but one of being – like perhaps I was discovered to be the reincarnation of some evil demon or whatever.
People pitied me more than anything. They did not hate me, but I could not run free, and while my parents and others empathized, they were certain of my guilt and would not allow me to roam freely.
There was a city on a massive boat. The entire ship was a self-contained city. Possibly it was the only city left. It was also a very hierarchical society where the rich ruled with a political philosophy that basically said they could do anything because they were rich, and the ruling elite had no obligation to help out anyone else. The rich deserved to be rich, the poor deserved to be poor.
I was a scullion, or an aspiring young chef or something. I was poor, possibly a homeless orphan. I needed to make good food to achieve my goals, but I didn’t have the ingredients. I went to steal eggs and suchlike in a reputable chef’s kitchen. To avoid being spotted at one point I hid above a door, using the door frame to support myself between the door and the ceiling.
A calf being led down a narrow, winding staircase into a basement slaughterhouse, so that his mother would follow.
A boy, he was to be put on an assembly line, where he would be taken apart and converted into a stroggo, a cybernetic monster. I was on the assembly line myself and it was horrific, like being processed at a meat factory where instead of employees there are big hideous metallic creatures that want to rip you apart piece by piece. I can’t even describe it, but it was bleak and frightening and horrific. Continue reading
This dream was inspired by The Venture Bros. It’s just a mishmash of ideas from it.
So I was a henchman for the Monarch or a villain like him. Our base of operations was a massive nuclear jet. Brock was one of the lieutenants of the villain. But he’s different. Angrier, more subdued, quieter. Also there’s a gorilla man or woman as one of the other lieutenants. This gorilla has a child. Continue reading
I was in school. It was actually a school that I’m starting to realize has featured prominently in several of my dreams, yet it doesn’t exist, and I cannot think of any possible basis that may have inspired it. I’ll call it the Windowless Classroom School. It is characterized by classrooms in a probably-upstairs hall who’s chalkboards/teacher’s area faces the door, and the door is exactly in the centre of the room. The classrooms are not lit as brightly as they usually are, and there are no windows. The walls are not white as they usually are – if I had to define them, I’d say they were either wood panelled, particle board, or panels of those hole-y wood stuff often used in garages and workshops to affix things to hooks. They generally have a workshop feel to them. The rooms feel comfortable, despite the fact that I almost never enjoy these dreams. The floor plan most resembles OTHS, where I spent my final year of HS, but only just vaguely and possibly merely coincidentally. Continue reading
It was the 80s. Turns out Ninja Turtles were real, and I and some others went urban exploring to discover the part of the sewer that they grew up in. Turns out it wasn’t even that sewery, it was a series of tile and concrete halls and rooms that were separated by stairways of maybe four or five steps. Sections were flooded, but rarely more than a few feet. Parts of it were dimly lit with sunlight. It was sealed off from other underground sections by thick upward-sliding electronic doors with a glass window in the centre. The turtles were nowhere to be seen; all we found were giant bloatflies that were pretty annoying.
