a traditional Space Italian wedding

Standard

At some kid’s house, watching cartoons with the kids before a big Thanksgiving-ish meal. The cartoon is about a hero of some kind who goes to another planet, a pock-marked thing of valleys and mountains with no atmosphere to speak of, searching for a base they had lost contact with under a black sky. So he’s in his space suit and he finds and rescues a child or three from the base that had presumably been overrun somehow. space doggieThis is all fine and good, but then it gets progressively more absurd.

The next thing I know he’s got a dog on this planet with him, and the dog has a space helmet but no space suit – the helmet is just this dome that seems sealed up to his skin on his neck, so the dog’s naked body is exposed to the pressure and temperature and suchlike of this planet. Dumb! Then he makes a second trip to the planet, and this time it’s full of creatures, all kinds of animals. The space outside the base is just teeming with life. There is also an indigenous population of intelligent humanoids, who strongly resemble Italian-Americans. This part pissed me off – it had been previously established that this place was cold and without atmosphere.

nuclear vampire apocalypse

Standard

I was in some research facility underground. It seemed to be both military (lots of security) and university (lots of students). The lights flickered out at some point. Creatures that fed on human blood (which I never actually saw) had escaped their holding tanks and were pursuing. There was just a mass panic of screaming and crowds rushing in all directions.  Continue reading

building an origami civilization in the rain forest

A pretty varied dream. A vary varied dream. Varily, a veriety. I was walking along with friends and suddenly was flying above it all, flying above the telephone lines. As I soared through the air I looked down to see endless fields in all direction, divided by an intermittent and inconsistent network of fences, lit by the setting sun. Often my unconscious has difficulty with scale in these sorts of situations, but the men I saw below appeared quite tiny, but scurried around at great speed. They were in grey uniforms with little caps that suggested to me somehow that they were Chinese, a sort of Chinese agricultural military. They were going to their living area at the end of the day of farming but appeared to move randomly, following each other in circles, getting confused, and the whole thing was a confused cluster with straight and curved lines of people moving off of it.

ancient temple with spider guardian, and a strange act of pity

Standard

I was dungeon exploring. There was a hill that appeared to be the ruins of an ancient city. At the top was a well-preserved temple surrounded by orchards of trees. The top floor of the temple had no walls, but did have a ceiling, and was filled with all kinds of moving panels, rotating pillars, and all kinds of other stone contraptions. Some may have been traps or puzzles for the dungeon diver to figure out, but others seemed to serve no clear purpose, and may have simply served the temple’s religious functions (which makes a lot more sense than installing traps and puzzle rooms).

When I ventured deeper to the underground levels of the dungeon, I found a varied network of halls and rooms lit by torches. In one room there was a raised walkway that passed over a large door, with stairways leading down. I went down the stairway to find that the door was open and led to tunnel going even deeper, to the secret depths of the temple that I sought. It was guarded by a giant spider, a strange gleaming disc shaped one that was kinda beautiful (but also frightening). It began chasing me away from this entranceway, but I was smarter – I ran up the stairs, and then when it followed, I leapt down to the floor below and ran through the entrance that it had inadvertently abandoned.

donkey strategy

Standard

There was a new real time strategy game. I remember begin very impressed with it, because it had day and night and sound, it counted the sound you made somehow. We were fighting someone in this game. They drove a truck in and shot the place up. They kidnapped our horse or donkey, and the rest of the dream was about rescuing this creature. We were worried they’d turn him to meat.

rat and baby

Standard

In one night I had two dreams back to back that were remarkably similar thematically – they both feature the recurring theme that I’ve had since childhood of having to care for a small, weak creature (baby, cats, some other strange creature) and it often being on the verge of death or beset by all kinds of dangers and my struggling madly to keep it alive and safe. There is a real sense of urgency and it is usually really sad and stressful. Continue reading

a new health food product made from paper

Dr. KJ (owner of C-company, from which I was recently laid off) was renting the ground floor of a building, a sort of office building perhaps. He had the entire thing made up to be a library, with extremely tall bookshelves filled every last one of them with copies of the same book. It was not exactly a book per se. It was a sort of binder that took the form of a hardcover book, and inside were pockets containing three or so smaller books of different sizes, and maybe one of those was actually an audio casette. thirsty dream: swan eggs and cute critters

Standard

I woke up several times, quite dehydrated last night. This sort of sleep tends to produce little mini dreams that I can only vaguely remember the main bullet point of, all of which are different.

One involved my trying to return a swan egg back to its nest. Some creature had removed it, so I had to track down the egg, then find a way of accessing the swan nest, which was floating on the surface of a pond next to an old stone building. I had to drag it to store with a stick and place it carefully in there, then try to push it back to where it was with said stick.

Another dream involved malevolent children. I don’t know much else.

Another involved extremely tiny cute creatures – not sure if they were bats, cats, birds or whatever, but there were three of them and they were the size of tiny mice, or huge bugs. They were really adorable. Oddly for a dream with such subject matter, I did not have anxieties about protecting them or about their imminent danger.

giants having giant orgies after they feast on humanity

My sister N was keeping a raccoon at a hotel our family was staying at. We were on some sort of resort thing where my parents had pre-established elderly friends. Anyway everyone seemed ok with the raccoon but me. I kept telling my family that it would bite us in our sleep and give us the rabies. Kept insisting that it had rabies. My sister had set it up a little room inside this massive oven that was in one of the rooms of the hotel suite. He even had little furniture and things. There was a frozen turkey inside the oven that we were just starting there, and she didn’t seem bothered that he kept trying to eat it. No, he won’t eat it, don’t be silly, that sort of thing. My mother was totally unconcerned, saying she had to spend enough time preparing food for the family that she didn’t have any left over for caring about whether or not a raccoon is something to be concerned about.
